Welcome to our Aavegotchi Game Guide! Let’s jump in!
The Polygon engine was used to create the play-to-earn metaverse game Aavegotchi, which features pixel ghosts. A player can interact with others, make money, farm, play minigames, and more.
The characters are ghost NFTs called Aavegotchis, which you can buy and sell. Users can personalize their Aavegotchis, earn money, and obtain land in the Gotchiverse where they can construct and farm for additional rewards. Since the Aavegotchi NFTs are backed by ERC-20 tokens, you can either actively control your Aavegotchi in minigames or just relax and earn money through interest.
Undertale and Stardew Valley’s aesthetic, lore, and general vibe are both present in the game. The language in The Litepaper is lighthearted, and the game’s bright, colorful animations and upbeat music are basically DeFi gaming mixed with a retro pixel farming RPG.
There is a lot to this game, but these are the fundamentals so you can start out.
What is Aavegotchi?

Building on the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain, Singapore-based Pixelcraft Studios created the game Aavegotchi. In 2020, the game was released. The Open Source Protocol Aave also contributed to the creation of this metaverse.
The NFT pixelated ghosts known as Aavegotchis are used in the Aavegotchi metaverse, also known as the Gotchiverse. According to Finder.com, Aavegotchis love hanging out with their friends and enjoy “farming, voting, and sh*tposting.”
According to the Litepaper, the Gotchiverse is in the Ether Realm, which is “beyond the Human Realm, where smart contracts twinkle and dark forests lurk.” The Aavegotchi Protocol was developed for the metaverse with direct input from the AavegotchiDAO.
The “Liquidator Invasion,” according to the Aavegotchi lore, is when Liquidators destroyed most of their own creations, the Aavegotchis, with the exception of a few. The Great Portal, which connects the Ether and Human Realms, was constructed by the most powerful Aavegotchis left alive—known as the “9 Adapt”—using their last remaining energy. The slain Aavegotchis are located inside the Great Portal.
Eventually, the great “lickquidators invasion” predicted in the Prophecy will take place. The exact meaning of this is unclear, but it appears that players must build defenses around their owned parcels because it is assumed that they will be attacked.
Mini-games and an active in-game market are also features of Aavegotchi and the Gotchiverse. And will soon provide the Aavegotchi community with an upgraded social component.
What is The Gotchiverse?

The flagship game of Pixelcraft Studio, The Gotchiverse, showcases the best of blockchain technology. The Aavegotchi Protocol, on which the metaverse is based, was developed with direct community input through AavegotchiDAO. Players can craft NFTs, explore, interact with others, and earn money in the Gotchiverse. Check out the litepaper and the Gotchiverse Game Bible for more information. Playing is currently available at verse.aavegotchi.com.
Who are the creators of Aavegotchi?

Singapore-based Pixelcraft Studios is the company behind the game’s creation.
We enjoy seeing the team on the Aavegotchi Wiki when playing DeFi games. Since many blockchain games omit the creators, transparency like this fosters confidence.
The Aavegotchi team has a core team and its own advisors and is led by a small group of senior members known as Summoners. The Chief Summoner, also known as the CEO and co-founder, is Code Dan. The Aavegotchi Wiki states that Dan is a full stack developer and the brains behind Yield Hero, a dapp that allows users to direct their AAVE yields in any direction. Additionally, he has a lot of prior experience using NFT platforms.
Jesse Johnson, aka GldnXross, was another well-known name that stood out to us. He was instrumental in the creation of the NFT minting marketplace, Mintable. The idea of value-Staked NFTs was also introduced by him.
XIBOT, whose pixel artwork has gained him notoriety in the NFT space on OpenSea and Rarible, and other team members have extensive experience and biographies noted on the Wiki. Many of them have blockchain development, tech company, and programming experience. Heavyweight advisors like Stani, the founder and CEO of Aave, and Les, who has extensive business experience in a variety of industries, including music, entertainment, and blockchain technology, are also part of the team.
In general, the game’s creators are open and honest about how it operates, how to win, and how to get started.
Is Aavegotchi related to the Aave project?
Despite not being an official Aave project, Aavegotchi is the recipient of an Aave Ecosystem Grant. Aave, on the other hand, has been incredibly helpful and is in constant contact with the team. In actuality, as mentioned above, Aave’s founder Stani Kulechov served as their first advisor.
Who are Aavegotchi’s Partners?
Aavegotchi, one of the first Defi NFT games on the market, is supported heavily by its parent protocol AAVE (which also received the AAVE Ecosystem Grant), as well as by Polygon, the game’s home chain for interacting with its assets. To provide some context, the Aave Ecosystem Grant is an initiative from the Aave official team to encourage and support new projects in the area to contribute to the growth of the ecosystem. The fact that Aavegotchi was selected as a recipient speaks volumes about its efforts to promote and publicize the Aave ecosystem.
Despite being a pixelated game and having a long history on the market, it frequently forms new alliances with guilds and investors. Aavegotchi and CGU partnered in November 2021, and CGU invested more than $500,000 into the ecosystem as a whole, including parcels, wearables, and Aavegotchis.
One of the longest-running and busiest guilds in the Avegotchi universe, Metaguild, has announced a partnership with Avegotchi at the same time involving some XL land parcels that will serve as the location for an exclusive experience in the coming Gotchiverse expansion.
Enough talk about the founders, let’s get to the meat of the Aavegotchi game guide.
What are the three zones in the Aavegotchi metaverse?

The Citaadel
In the universe of Gotchis, this is the location of the Aavegotchis’ home base. It is where the Great Portal is.
The Grid
Everything that lies beyond the Citadel’s walls. Plus, it includes virtual parcels on which structures like walls and towers can be constructed.Â
It also contains The Aarena, a place where Aavegotchis can engage in Battle Royales with one another in order to earn Spirit Force.
The Beyond
This is currently Locked. It will remain unavailable for some time. At least until Act 2 comes. Keep checking this Aavegotchi game guide for updates.
How to start playing Aavegotchi?

Visit the website verse.aavegotchi.com and sign in using a Web3 wallet that is associated with the Polygon network. It is compatible with a number of different cryptocurrency wallets, such as MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, and Wallet Connect.
Rarity farming is the primary means of progressing through the game and can be accomplished in one of three ways: by choosing an Aavegotchi with rare traits during the summoning process; by equipping your Aavegotchi with NFT wearables; or by participating in the minigames.
The game, however, has a bit of a learning curve, and it might not be the best choice for players who are just starting out. However, there is a low barrier to entry because new players are not required to purchase an Aavegotchi in order to get started.
How do you get playable Aavegotchi characters?
Next up in the Aavegotchi game guide is the four ways to obtain the playable Aavegotchi characters are as follows:
SummonÂ
To summon an Aavegotchi, players must purchase an unopened portal. You can choose from 10 Aavegotchis in an unopened portal (you only get to choose one). The auctions and raffles are timed, limited events, but you can also purchase a portal at the bazaar, drop ticket raffle, or auction house.
You will have a choice of 10 Aavegotchis once the Portal is opened. To scroll through and read each one’s traits, click the arrows. Consider all aspects, including rarity and aesthetics, when making your Aavegotchi selection. The other nine Aavegotchi will be burned forever if you summon more than one.
You must give the Aavegotchi you choose to summon Spirit Force (staked collateral) in order to make it come to life.
Click the “get spirit force” button under the “Amount to Stake” field to accomplish this. The Swapper Tool will then show up, allowing you to exchange GHST tokens for the necessary Spirit Force.
Enter the appropriate amount, select “Swap,” and then check your wallet to confirm the transaction and gas costs. Upon confirmation of the transaction, click “Approve Transfer” before selecting “Claim With X Amount of Specific Spirit Force.”
You will be able to see your new Aavegotchi in the “My Aavegotchis” tab once this transaction has been confirmed. From this point on, you can give your Aavegotchi any name you like and pet it for the first time!
Buy an opened portalÂ
In the Gotchi Baazaar, you can purchase a portal that has already been opened, but there are fewer Aavegotchis available for opened portals than for unopened ones. Remember, you can only have one!Â
When you purchase an unopened Portal, there are several steps required to summon and claim an Aavegotchi.
Buy one directly
Aavegotchis can be purchased directly from the Gotchi Baazaar or from a secondary market like OpenSea.
Borrow one
Aavegotchis can be borrowed through the Gotchi Lending program. Visit app.aavegotchi.com/lending to look through listings and discover more information about the lending program.
An excellent place to start if you’re a new player and hesitant to invest right away is to borrow an Aavegotchi through the lending program. However, you can only borrow for a short period of time, and the borrowed Aavegotchi cannot be equipped or unequipped with any wearables.
You can start playing once you have an Aavegotchi in your possession.
What are REALM parcels in Aavegotchi?
In the Gotchiverse, you can also buy REALM parcels, which have their own benefits and rewards. Periodically, REALM parcels are made available through auctions on the Gotchiverse home page.
Aavegotchi’s GHST Token and Tokenomics

Time to switch this Aavegotchi game guide’s focus to numbers!
The in-game currency of Aavegotchi is the Aavegotchi token (GHST), which is traded on both centralized and decentralized exchanges. For a list of choices, visit the Get GHST page on the Aavegotchi website.
The AavegotchiDAO and Aavegotchi project’s governance token is the GHST token. As the project develops, GHST tokens will be given out to more users. The founders of the project will hold fewer tokens as a result, giving players more control over the Aavegotchi project.
Trade GHST with ether on Uniswap and other exchanges (ETH). Get ETH on a variety of exchanges, including Binance and Crypto.com.
What is GHST’s total supply?
Due to the fact that the token can be produced using DAI and the bonding curve, the current total supply of GHST is erratic.
The GHST distributed tokens over the course of three phases in late 2020 as follows:
5,000,000 GHST tokens were distributed during the private round at the cost of 0.05 DAI/GHST. Open to anyone who has completed KYC verification and has at least 20K DAI to trade in for GHST tokens. The initial release of tokens occurs on the 180th day following the conclusion of the presale round, and a subsequent release occurs over the following 185 days. The total vesting period is 365 days.
At the cost of 0.1 DAI per GHST, 500,000 GHST tokens were made available during the pre-sale round. Open to anyone who has had their KYC verified, with no minimum contribution. The same as the Private Round, the vesting period applies. The money raised during the Pre Sale will be deposited into a reserve pool for the Token Bonding Curve.
The Token Bonding Curve (TBC), on the other hand, is open to participants with KYC validation and requires no minimum contribution. No GHST bonding curve-distributed maximum supply exists. Plus, there’s no vesting or lockup period.
Aavegotchi’s Tokenomics in detail:
The project has taken a number of measures to maintain the ecosystem’s sustainability because GHST is a variable supply. The revenue sharing distribution is currently divided into the following 4 parts:
You’ve got to Earn It – it’s a metaphor for the benefits of playing the Aavegotchi game. Rarity farming was previously discussed; as it is finished in each season, rewards in GHST will be given to players based on various factors, including top rarity, kinship scores, and XP.
You’ve got to DAO it – it’s an example of revenue returning to the DAO Treasury to support ecosystem efforts and community expansion. This is at 15% right now.
You’ve got to Burn It – which represents the GHST token’s burn mechanism. To balance the downward pressure on the token price as more tokens are created via the token bonding curve mechanic, 5% of all portal and item sales are burned. This is the deflationary strategy that the tokenomics has in place.
Don’t forget you’ve got to Build It – which is the revenue share going to the development team. These rewards are included in the GHST to align developers’ efforts with the project’s long-term success.
What are FRENS tokens?
Additionally, there are FRENS tokens that are restricted from trading outside the Aavegotchi ecosystem. These can be exchanged for raffle tickets or “drop” tickets and are obtained by staking GHST tokens within the game. You can enter to win wearables with raffle tickets, and you can enter to win portals or REALM parcels with drop tickets.
How does Aavegotchi’s DAO work?
Aavegotchi has always been governed by the AavegotchiDAO, first through their GHST token and later through the actual Aavegotchi NFT.
Vote.aavegotchi.com is one of the most active DAOs in the entire world, and it is one of the few NFT projects that supply by consensus, allowing the DAO to determine the optimal number of Aavegotchi NFTs.
How do NFTs work in Aavegotchi?

Aavegotchi is a game that, like its inspiration Tamagotchi, requires daily interaction for the best gaming experience. Aavegotchis were ultimately deployed on Polygon due to gas prices and costs, which is another reason for this.
The main value accrual into the NFTs in Aavegotchi is that the NFTs are dynamic and their underlying metadata can change based on interactions with their owners. The staked collateral linked to the NFTs represents the intrinsic value known as Spirit Force that each Aavegotchi possesses. An NFT is a representation of anything you can own in the game.
Avegotchi characters
NFTs include Aavegotchis and Portals (ERC-721 tokens). Wearable customization can raise an Aavegotchi’s “rarity score.”
Wearables
Additionally, wearables are NFTs (ERC-998 tokens), developed by the designers and their own group of artists. Weapons, pajamas, sushi, Santa, rasta, and partnership sets are just a few of the many existing categories of wearables.
Virtual land
The Gotchiverse is divided up so that players can purchase virtual land parcels to own portions of it. Owners of the individual parcels, known as REALM, can obtain resources known as Gotchus Alchemica. With the help of these materials, Installations can be built as barriers against the Prophecy, the impending “lickquidators invasion.”
The REALM parcels allow for farming, crafting, trading, lending Aavegotchis, fighting, and other forms of conflict.
Aavegotchi Game Guide to Character Trait System

The trait system in the game establishes the rarity. Aavegotchis have six characteristics:
- AGG = Aggressiveness
- NRG = Energy
- SPK = Spookiness
- BRN = Brain Size
- EYS = Eye Shape
- EYC = Eye Color
Once you have an Aavegotchi, you can view its statistics, experience points, rarity score, wearables, and traits on the Gotchi Profile page.
The Aavegotchis’ rarity and trait probability are listed below:

Aavegotchis are backed financially by Spirit Force Tokens (ERC-20 tokens). The number of aTokens staked to an Aavegotchi determines how much Spirit Force is generated. A yield is generated by Spirit Force and sent to the player via Aave’s lending protocol. In other words, these aTokens accumulate interest in real-time that is automatically sent to the owner’s cryptocurrency wallet.

It’s interesting to note that the Aavegotchi’s personality and starting traits vary across the bell curve in this game, so if you’re looking for wearables to increase your pet’s rarity, make sure to choose those that enhance the traits that lie in the right direction of the bell curve.
Do you have to pet your Aavegotchi every 12 hours?
If you remember the Tamagotchi era, your virtual pet requires occasional petting. Similar kinship mechanics are used in the game, where the best results require interaction with your Aavegotchi twice daily, every 12 hours. This might put a lot of players off, but scroll through the entire Aavegotchi game guide and you’ll find investing time in this project is worth it.
Is Aavegotchi a Play-To-Earn NFT Game?

Short and sweet: Yes, it is.Â
In-game earning opportunities include:
Trading Aavegotchis
Aavegotchis can be retrieved from portals by players and sold. On the Gotchi Baazaar, you can buy individual Aavegotchis for GHS, or you can get unopened or opened Portals to choose an Aavegotchi when you summon it.
A quick search of the Gotchi Baazaar reveals that the Aavegotchi’s current lowest price is about 390 GHST. You can also scan the prices for portals, which are in a similar price range.
You can market your Aavegotchi in the Gotchi Baazaar or on a second-hand site like OpenSea if you want to.
Earn with minigames
Mini-games created by the community and integrated into the Aavegotchi universe are additional ways to interact with the game. Many of these are reminiscent of popular old-school console games from the past, which evoke nostalgia and good times.
Although the mechanics of minigames vary, they are all player-controlled games. Some video games award Experience (XP) points. These games are currently being developed by players; examples include:
- Gotchi Tower Defense
- Reverse Pacman
- and Portal Riderand.Â
In the Gotchiverse, minigames are constantly being created, and community members can contribute as well. You could, for instance, own all or a portion of a Gotchiverse minigame. An NFT would serve as a representation of your ownership and could earn you money.
Rarity farming
To encourage players to stay active in the game, Aavegotchi created the Rarity Farming mechanism. In essence, players are encouraged to raise the rarest Aavegotchis in order to receive rewards like GHST tokens and more!
Done by using rare wearables, summoning rare Aavegotchis, or voting in the AavegotchiDAO to raise your Aavegotchi’s rarity level. The Rarity Farming rewards pool, which receives 40% of GHST spent on consumables, wearables, and other game items funds the GHST awards program.
XP, Kinship Scores, and Aavegotchi Rarity Scores (BRS) are the three rewards for rarity farming. Playing minigames or taking part in special events are additional ways to earn XP (both limited and announced on Discord and other channels).
As straightforward as it may seem, the dynamics of the game are constantly changing as a result of the addition of in-game assets and other player actions, so the rarity farming game does not have an absolute min-max and can be very engaging.
Earn passive interest
Spirit Force provides financial support for each Aavegotchi, allowing them to accumulate interest over time.
