Animoca Brands has announced that it will now be the title sponsor for two major MotoGP races. This comes after the company signed a deal with Dorna Sports.
The title sponsorship kicks in immediately with Animoca Brands expected to sponsor the races in 2022 and 2023.
What You Need to Know About the Deal
Animoca Brands is hoping the new title sponsorship deals will be the first of many such collaborations with MotoGP. For now, the gaming investment company will get two races. The first one will be the ‘Gran Premio Animoca Brands de Aragon’.
The event is one of the major races on the MotoGP calendar. It is held on the Cuidad Del Motor de Aragon track in Spain. The Grand Prix has been staged since 2010 and in 2022, it will take place on September 18.
Animoca Brands is also getting title sponsorship for the Australian Grand Prix. From now on, the race will be titled the ‘Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle GP’. It is also one of the biggest events on the MotoGP calendar. The race debuted in 1997 and it takes place on the scenic Phillips Island Circuit in Melbourne.
Both these events are scheduled for 2022. However, Animoca Brands will remain the title sponsor for another season as well.
Collaborations Between MotoGP and Animoca Brands
The title sponsorship deal is not the first major collaboration between Animoca Brands and MotoGP. In fact, the two companies began working together back in 2019. Animoca got exclusive rights to develop an NFT-based motorcycle racing game under the MotoGPTM brand.
The game, which is dubbed ‘MotoGPTM Ignition’, is the first NFT-powered motorcycle racing game for the MotoGP brand. It is also part of the REVV Motorsport platform, a robust and highly integrated racing ecosystem for play-to-earn enthusiasts.
The goal for Animoca Brands is to make ‘MotoGPTM Ignition’ the ultimate platform for fans of motorcycle racing. It gives access to MotoGP-branded gaming experiences and so much more.
The company also wants to make it easier for fans to collect, trade, and earn limited-edition NFTs under the MotoGP brand. So far, a fully-fledged marketplace for the game is already live. The game itself will launch later this year.
Why the Partnerships are Important for Animoca
The biggest benefit for Animoca will be the exposure. MotoGP is one of the most popular racing sports in the world. Getting title sponsorship for two of its biggest calendar events will bring a lot of visibility to the Animoca brand.
Additionally, the partnership will help build up Animoca’s credibility in the P2E space. This will, in the future, help to unlock other bigger partnership agreements with major sports brands.
Also, Animoca has made it clear it is pursuing a long-term partnership with MotoGP. The company will help the sporting brand unlock more value with innovative NFT-backed P2E and metaverse gaming experiences.
