Gods Unchained has just announced two major esports tournaments due to take place in September and October this year. The esports tournaments come with a prize pot of $70,000 and promise to bring lots of excitement to the Gods Unchained community.
The first event, Gods Unchained Light’s Verdict: Showdown, is taking place this Friday (September 30) and will bring together influencers in the esports space. They will battle it out for bragging rights and the top prize.
The second event, Battle for the Light, will take place in October and will be open to Gods Unchained players everywhere. This highly-anticipated event is the first in a series of global esports tournaments planned by the team.
Both events are co-organized by AQUA.xyz, the Web3 gaming marketplace.

What’s the Gods Unchained Light’s Verdict: Showdown event all about?
The Gods Unchained Light’s Verdict: Showdown event will kick off the esports tournaments taking place over the next couple of weeks.
Eight epsorts influencers will compete in the event, which will be a single-elimination challenge. It’s set to take place on Setpember 30 at 5pm PDT.

Prizes will include 10,000USDC, 7,700 $GODS, and $2,4000 USD in card packs. This event will also present an opportunity to use the brand new Light’s Verdict expansion pack. The pack will be on sale for a limited time only.

Here’s what we know about the Battle for the Light esports tournament
Following the Gods Unchained Light’s Verdict: Showdown event, Gods Unchained players will be able to participate in the Gods Unchained Battle for the Light esports tournament.
This event will take place across two days, on October 8 and October 9. October 8 will see the open qualifier event take place, while October 9 is when the main event will take place.
Two separate events will be taking place on both days and players will be able to participate in the one that is within their timezone and region.
The Americas and Asia-Pacific regional event will take place at 5pm (UTC-7) and players can register here.
The EMEA&CIS regional event will also take place at 5pm (UTC+2) on both days and players can register here.
There will be a total of six rounds, and each game will be played consecutively and broadcast on the Gods Unchained channel.
Prizes include 10,000USDC, 30,000 $GODS, and $29,000 in card packs.


Battle for the Light: Rules
A document outlining all the rules of the event is available here. But the highlights are that all players need to be over 18 and must be based in one of the countries on the list.
Also, decklist submission and registration close 24 hours before the event. So make sure you register ahead of time. Further, there are rules around what decks are allowed. Players can use the following sets as part of the competition:
- Genesis
- Etherbots
- Promo
- Welcome
- Core
- Trial of the Gods
- Divine Order
- Mortal Judgement
But they are not allowed to use any Mythic cards. These cards include:
- Citadel of the Gods
- Hyperion
- Temnys of Thebia, Chronicler
- Omox, The Mad
- Prometheus
- Atlas
- Tethys
Any player that uses an inappropriate deck will be disqualified from the tournament.

What’s AQUA.xyz’s involvement with the esports tournaments?
Gods Unchained is partnering with AQUA.xyz to deliver the esports tournaments. The tournaments will be presented by the Web3 marketplace.
