ledger

Star Atlas, a next-gen play-to-earn game, has announced that Ledger, a cold storage solution, is now functional on its platform. The Solana-based blockchain gaming platform announced on its Medium account, stating that players can now access “Ledger cold storage solutions across its entire ecosystem, including for several of the most popular hardware devices like the Ledger Nano X and the Ledger Nano S.”

With the new Ledger functionality, players can now access their game keys on their cold storage devices. Also, they will be able to access a long list of products with a great deal of security attached.

“The peace of mind that Ledger provides is fundamental to securing the sustainable and thriving Star Atlas ecosystem, a self-sovereign socioeconomic order we are building for all participants to benefit from,” said Michael Wagner, CEO of ATMTA, Inc. and co-founder of Star Atlas.

What is Star Atlas’ Ledger?

Also called the Ledger Hardware Wallet, Ledger is a cold wallet that provides maximum security to players’ galactic assets. As cold storage, players’ private keys are not connected to the Internet. Rather, they are kept in external devices which can only be used when connected to their devices.

Since 2021, the Ledger has been a bone of contention, with many doubting its functionality. However, Star Atlas’ CEO and co-founder, Michael Wagner, agreed that the development would have its disadvantages.

“We’re probably going to need to put some effort into sorting that out,” said Michael Wagner. “Because the last thing you want to deal with is confirming a transaction on a hardware device in the heat of a battle. But we will factor that into the development of the on-chain logic.”

However, the development provides a great deal of security. Speaking further on the development, Wagner said:

“Ledger will function properly for ship enlistment. They just don’t currently support the signMessage function, which means you can’t update your profile image or badge.”

The Ledger Functionality

The functionality of the newly-released Ledger will be accessible to players who “already have access to the pre-alpha Showroom on the Epic Games Store.” Notably, they can gain access by downloading and utilizing the new game patch. The platform also stated that the functionality supports all derivative paths based on the Solana network.

Similarly, the Showroom is powered by Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), and it is one of Star Atlas’ most anticipated experiences. Towards the end of last month, the platform released the Unreal Engine 5 at the 426LIVE:NYK event. Also, at the event, various products were released, including the open-source F-KIT, integrated into the Showroom as a software development kit (SDK) that closes the gap between the Solana blockchain network and Unreal Engine 5.

According to the platform, players can access other components, including ATLAS & POLIS lockers, Fleet Viewer, the Galactic Marketplace, the Faction Fleet (SCORE), and their Showroom game keys. Additionally, the Showroom is currently in a pre-alpha stage on the Epic Games Store (EGS). And to enter the Showroom, players need access keys.

What Is the Showroom?

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the Showroom provides players with a playable demo of the space exploration game. With the Showroom, Star Atlas seeks to give its player community fresher and more engaging gaming experiences. It was launched during the 426LIVE:NYK event, livestreamed on Twitch.

So far, the Solana-based blockchain experience has gained quite some prominence. Basically, the Showroom gives players the opportunity to view their ships in the Star Atlas Meta, a limited 3D world. Additionally, it is available to players whose spaceships are NFT-supported and the Star Atlas player community.

How to Access Showroom Keys

To access Showroom keys, players need to earn badges in their Faction Fleet. Here, the hint is “the higher the badge, the more keys you receive.” In simple terms, keys are distributed to players who have the Seasoned Fleet Badge and have registered their ships into the faction fleet for a minimum of 7 days.

To claim the Showroom keys, players are expected to visit the Profile page on the Star Atlas website. Next, they need to click “Claim game keys” located at the top right corner of the Profile page.

The Star Atlas

Star Atlas is a next-gen blockchain gaming platform that is operational on the Solana blockchain network. The platform merges the powers of real-time graphics, top-class blockchain, and decentralized finance (DeFi) with multiplayer gaming mechanics. Also, the game uses Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite to create “cinematic quality video game visuals.”

Being a strategy game, Star Atlas features gaming storylines, including politics, territorial relationships, and experience in the metaverse. In addition to its many features, the Solana network – on which it is built – secures players’ overall gameplay. Also, the popular blockchain network supports about 50,000 transactions per second, giving players smooth experiences.

Additionally, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are earned and tradable within the Star Atlas ecosystem. This creates an economy where the authenticity of assets is assured and ownership is exclusive.
