The metaverse continues to make waves with new mind-blowing innovations. At first, the metaverse creates a virtual world where gamers can interact as a community. Now the virtual world has expanded to accommodate every single real-world industry.

It was not long before fashion made its way into the metaverse with special appearances by Italian multinational fashion house Gucci. Soon, we have Balenciaga, LV, and other top fashion brands venturing into the digital world.

However, the advancement and development of the fashion industry have grown so wide that global fashion events are set to be held in the virtual world. In March, the world will witness the first-ever Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW).

Metaverse Fashion Week

The global Metaverse Fashion Week is set to take place in a few weeks’ time in Decentraland. In fact, top fashion brands, including Paco Rabanne, Tommy Hilfiger, and Etro, are part of the top brands in the event’s lineup. On the lineup, other brands are Dolce and Gabbana, Elie Saab, Nick Kirkwood, Cavalli, and Imitation of Christ.

The Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) is the world’s first fashion week hosted in the virtual world. The 4-day event will commence on the 24th of March, 2022, in the popular metaverse world, Decentraland. Decentraland Metaverse platform where users can buy plots of land as NFTs.

The maiden edition of the show will feature a lot of exciting top global fashion brands, including the famous Paco Rabanne and D&G. Meanwhile, it will also pave the way for enlisting other top brands like Gucci and Balmain in subsequent editions. However, there could be a few additions before the launch date.

The show will also feature top digital-focused fashion brands like DressX, Auroboros, and The Fabricant. They would anchor spaces and runways. In fact, runways are the highlight of this event because that is how these brands would stage their new designs and collections.

Furthermore, wearables digital accessories will be available at Republique digital fashion house and digital retailer Monnier Paris. Accessories will be supplied by the best in the industry like Arigato, Wandler, Coach, and others.

Apart from the runways, there would be other series of events and presentations. They include a virtual film cinema to show movies by House of Lanvin and others. There are also plans to install a luxury stall resembling Avenue Montaigne for these brands to sell not only digital but physical items.

Evangelo Bousis, the founder of Dundas, acknowledged the importance of the metaverse as a world where people can really express themselves. A world where anybody can do fantastic things and wear fantastic designs that they can’t in the real world.

Preparing For The Fashion Week

The MVFW should not pose such a huge task to the brands involved. This is because some of them have already digitized their products in previous events. For example, in October 2021, D&G accrued more than $6 million from selling their products as NFTs. Remember that Costume that Mary Blige rocked as an NFT during the recent Superbowl event? It was the handwork of Dundas in collaboration with DressX.

Meanwhile, Tommy Hilfiger has also announced the showcase of the digital version of their Spring 2022 collection. Their aim is to connect with their fans that they’ve not had the opportunity to connect with before.

Other companies involved definitely have a few tricks up their sleeves, and the world will definitely see them in a few weeks. Apart from experience, they would also gain the trust and love of people from around the world. The end result? More Sales! Apart from these, Rarible is launching space for new designers to portray their work during this event. Therefore, if you are a fashion designer, you don’t want to miss this opportunity to showcase your craft.

The Runway

Another highlight of the event would be the models on the runway. As opposed to the physical models, Avatars twice the size of a human model would take the spotlight. This is to ensure that viewers can really connect with the designs of the collections and see those tiny details that beautify clothes. During these runway events, people can view as guests and even purchase these virtual items. There might also be gifts for these guests at the end of the event. It’s definitely going to be something extraordinary.
