Pegaxy is a racing p2e game where players own and race futuristic mythical creatures Pega, who are the descendants of the legendary mythical creature Pegasus.
The Pegaxy p2e game project kicked off in February 2021. The web3 game studio Mirai Labs publishes it. Steve Nguyen, the CTO of Appota Group, is responsible for all things technological. He and the CEO, Ken Pham, have previously founded one of the top Vietnam-based game publishers, Gamota.
Previously on playtoearndiary, we covered the launch of the beta Pegaxy game and the merging features in Pegaxy. In this article, let us delve into the gameplay, p2e opportunities, and the features of pega creatures.
How to play Pegaxy
To participate in the daily PvP races of Pegaxy, you must own at least one Pega. Fifteen players compete in each race. The aim is to finish the race as one of the top 3 winners.
There are also dash tournaments which take place each month among the top 60 racers across five classes with the highest statistics in the PvP races. In other words, the top 12 racers in each class are granted to compete in the grand finale.
These monthly events take place over 11 months, so there are 660 players in total on the day of the grand finale. Every player qualifies only once; if the same player is among the top races again in another month, the next best player will be added to the grand tournament.
How to earn in Pegaxy
In the daily races, the top 3 winners earn rewards in VIS (Vigorus), Pegaxy’s utility token.
The monthly 12 winners from each class earn rewards in PGX (Pegaxy Stone), the governance token of Pegaxy. In the case of the grand tournament, the top 3 racers are rewarded with PGX. The rewards for the grand tournament come from the ecosystem fund and also the community treasury.
The team of Pegaxy strives to integrate a reward system that prioritizes the most skilled players, not the ones who can afford the best Pega.
Fans can also rent out their Pega on the marketplace for a share of racing profit or fixed-term rental. They can collect Pega with different rarities, including the rarest founding and crowned types (see below for more details), and sell them for profit, also in the official marketplace of Pegaxy.
Tokenomics of Pegaxy: PGX and VIS
The governance token PGX, an ERC-20 token, has multiple use cases in the Pegaxy p2e game. You can use it for breeding new Pega and purchasing Pega from the marketplace. As stated above, the team distributes tournament rewards also in PGX tokens. It will be possible to stake PGX for extra rewards, as well, and since it’s also a governance token, holders will be able to vote on essential game developments.
The total supply of PGX is 1 billion. The management chose linear vesting periods for team funds, private sales, marketing funds, ecosystem reserve, and community developer incentive funds. This is to ensure that all shareholders sustain long-term. The PGX token allocation is as follows:
- Community incentives (16%)
- Ecosystem reserve and marketing (30%)
- Team (22%)
- Liquidity (10%)
- Private sales (20%)
- IDO (2%)
On the other hand, the VIS token is the in-game utility token. It’s also an ERC-20 token. It’s the primary token for breeding and fusing mechanisms. How much VIS is required for these activities depends on the breed count and breed type of each Pega, respectively.
Get to know your Pega better.
Main characters of Pegaxy exist in four bloodlines. You can identify them by the design of their wings.
Based on the rarities, they are as follows:
- Hoz (rarest)
- Campona (rare)
- Klin (uncommon)
- Zan (common)
Also, know these two Pega are particularly unique and valuable:
Founding Pega: these are the very first Pega the game issued. There are 5,000 of them, and they laid the foundation for the new breed of Pega, which will be born in the coming years.
Crowned Pega: these are the gods of Pega. Only the owners of fabled tokens can create these Pega. The team distributed fabled tokens to the community during the initial stages of the game development. There are only 722 fabled tokens. In order to develop a Crowned Pega, one must spend five fabled tokens. However, there’s no guarantee that your attempt will evolve into a Crowned Pega. The probabilities are as follows
- Single crowned (25%)
- Double crowned (10%)
- Triple crowned (4%)
- Quad crowned (0.25%)
- Penta crowned (0.02%)
Moreover, when all fabled tokens are used, it won’t be possible to create new Pega. All these aspects make these Pega extremely valuable.
Breeding of Pega: Bloodline and Rarity Aspects
You should take the breeding process of Pegaxy as a strategic choice. First of all, the rarity, hence the bloodline, of the Pega plays an important role in the breeding process. Generally speaking, when you merge two bloodlines, the least rare bloodline is the dominant one. Remember that Hoz is the rarest and Zan is the most common bloodline. So, when breeding, you obtain the following results, for example:
- Every other bloodline you breed with Zan will result in a new Zan baby since it’s the least rare bloodline. Hoz breeding can only result in a Hoz baby if you breed it with Hoz. In all other combinations, the baby will be of the less rare bloodline.
- Klin + Zan = Zan. All other combinations will result in a Klin baby since it’s the second most common bloodline.
- In a similar vein, Campona + Zan=Zan; Campona + Klin = Klin; Campona + Campona = Campona; Campona + Hoz= Campona.
Note also that there are five breed types: founding, legendary, epic, rare, and racer. The resulting baby will also be one level lower than the parent with the lower rarity. Because of this, no founding Pega can be created through breeding; as stated above, there’ll be only 5,000 of them.
Breeding of Pega: Cooldown Times
Cooldown times depend on the bloodline as well. Hoz, Campona, Klin, and Zan bloodlines need 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, and 96 hours, respectively. A newborn Pega must wait for 96 hours if it’s a Hoz, 72 hours if it’s a Campona, 48 hours if it’s a Klin, and 24 hours if it’s a Zan before it can join a race. The parent Pega must wait for 96 hours before it can race again. This is valid for all bloodlines.
You can breed a Pega up to seven times. A newborn Pega from all bloodlines must wait for 96 hours until you can breed it again.
Breeding of Pega: Costs
Every time you breed a Pega, you must pay 30 PGX at the moment of writing, but it may increase in time. This cost remains the same regardless of how many times that particular Pega were bred before. For breeding, you must also spend VIS tokens. If it’s the first time, the cost is 2,000 VIS; however, it will increase with breed count. For instance, for breed count (3/7) the cost is 10,000 VIS, while for 6/7, it is 42,000 VIS.
Fusion of Pega
You can merge two Pega which have the same breed type to create a new Pega with a rarity one level higher than the previous ones. The fusion process will allow you to earn more VIS tokens because Pega with higher rarities earn more rewards in races.
Contrary to breeding, there’s no cooldown period for the fusion process. Your pega can race, breed, or fuse again after the fusion. This also means that you can fuse Pega while they are racing and are in the cooldown period.
Valentine’s Pega will now be able to fuse! ❤
Fusing a Valentine’s Pega with any Pega will allow for the inheritance of their color of skin, exclusive frame, and all visual effects corresponding to the Valentine’s Pegas’ rarity. 🥳 pic.twitter.com/JO5V8bua3H

Equipping Pega with Gear and Food
In order to improve a Pega’s attributes and increase its performance, you can equip it with gear and food items.
As far as the gear is concerned, you have four choices: head, knee, chest, and backside wear. However, there’s a caveat. When you apply gear, it will strengthen one attribute, but it may worsen other attributes while doing that. For example, chest wear adds 1% strength; on the other hand, it removes 1% in speed or fire. That’s why you should form a strategy and know why you are fitting a particular gear.
The same warning is valid for food items; while one item will add to an attribute, it will remove from another one. Two types of food are particularly precious. “Sacred Nectar” reduces the 4-day maturity time of a baby saga to 3 days, allowing the new breeds to join races only three days after they’re born. The second rare food item is “Joy of Sunshine,” and it can change the color of your Pega permanently.
