The Kuniverse: What We Know
The Sergio Aguero Sandbox is a metaverse experience that allows fans to interact virtually with the former soccer player. The name is actually derived from the footballer’s nickname Kun. According to the Sandbox, the first version of the Kuniverse will be live starting November 6th.
The experience features a large stadium that will come jam-packed with soccer-themed games and other related entertainment. We are also learning that Sergio Aguero will participate actively in this experience.
The five-time English Premier League winner will, in fact, run events on his own Twitch channel, where he will interact with fans and discuss more the Kuniverse experience. Aguero will also have special guests in the Kuniverse, presumably other soccer stars or sports personalities.
There will also be some live sessions where the former Manchester City striker will engage with other users on the Sandbox. Also, to add to the soccer fiesta, once the Sergio Aguero Sandbox meta launches, a fully paid trip to this year’s FIFA World Cup will be up for grabs.
The plan is to have a live draw in the Kuniverse where one lucky winner will be selected to attend the showpiece soccer event.
Other Key Details of The Sergio Aguero Sandbox Metaverse
The Kuniverse will also allow fans to own exclusive Sergio Aguero NFTs. For now, the plan is to release about 9320 avatars, each backed by an NFT.
Users who want to participate in the Sergio Aguero Sandbox experience will need these NFTs to join. There will also be other perks for Kuniverse NFT holders.
For example, to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup draw, folks must own these NFTs. The 9,320 avatars will also give fans access to exclusive soccer-related esports tournaments and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the Argentine football legend in person.
How To Get the Kuniverse NFTs
The Sandbox announced that all the 9,320 Kuniverse NFTs would start selling at the start of November, just ahead of the official launch of this experience. The NFTs will all be available on the Sandbox marketplace.
However, those who would want early access can sign up in the Kuniverse whitelist right now. Whitelisted folks will get access to a 24-hour presale before the NFTs go live on the Sandbox Marketplace.
The most basic of these will be Football Kuns. Others, in order of rarity, include E-Kuns, Future Kuns, Robot Kuns, and Special Kuns. Please also note that users are only allowed a maximum of 5 avatars per wallet.
Why The Kuniverse is Big for The Sandbox
The Sandbox has been making some interesting moves to try and bring more sporting experiences to its platform. Just recently, the metaverse announced a deal with HSBC that would bring 7s rugby into the metaverse. The deal would also allow HSBC to build up and market the upcoming Hong Kong 7s series.

However, signing up for the Sergio Aguero Sandbox experience is a big feat. For starters, this is one of the greatest footballers of his generation.
Regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time, Aguero made his name with Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.
However, the 34-year-old’s decade-long stint with Manchester City brought his biggest career highlights. He helped the Citizens to five Premier League titles, including a dramatic final-day title-winning victory in 2012. Aguero scored the decisive last-minute goal in a 3 -2 win over Queens Park Rangers.
The Sandbox will likely leverage the Aguero entrance to try and sell the platform as the ultimate stop for soccer-related experiences.
The Sergio Aguero Sandbox experience will also serve to open up the doors for other footballers, most of whom have, in fact, shown a lot of interest in web3 and the metaverse.
Sergio Aguero’s Involvement in Esports
The development of the Kuniverse on the Sandbox is not the first time Aguero is getting into gaming. In October 2020, the Manchester City record goal scorer established his own Esports team dubbed KRU.
The team was largely geared toward Spanish-speaking football fans in South America. Kun Aguero was also the first notable athlete to venture into Esports in such a big way.
Aguero also started streaming gaming sessions live on Twitch back in 2020, building a huge following in the process.
Therefore, this is a man who knows a thing or two about gaming, and his entrance into the metaverse can only improve things. Likely, the Kuniverse experience on the Sandbox will not be his last.
