Metaverse platform The Sandbox has announced plans to launch what it calls ‘Belonging Week’, a new program that aims to foster inclusivity on the metaverse.
The week will begin on June 24th and is designed to give community members a safe and inclusive online space where they can express themselves without discrimination.
Sandbox’s 3 LANDs of Inclusivity
To celebrate Belonging Week, the metaverse platform says that it is offering users access to three LANDSs of inclusivity. The first one is ‘Metapride’.
In line with this year’s pride month, The MetaPride Land is a gay village in the metaverse that will offer support and community for all LGBTQIA people.
Users are encouraged to join and celebrate with friends during the whole Belonging Week. The Sandbox is encouraging gay creators to showcase their works and engage with the overall community.
World of Women Museum
The Sandbox will also provide dedicated land for women through the ‘World of Women Museum’. The land is going to be home to an outstanding showcase of web3 inspired art by women.
This collection is designed to encourage more women creators to the metaverse and provide a safe space where women’s art can thrive.
The Sandbox has partnered with Nabiya to make this a reality. There will also be new and exciting women artists as part of the showcase.
The Valley of Belonging
The third and final inclusivity land is going to be the ‘Valley of Belonging’. This will actually be more like an inclusivity parade.
It highlights a diverse cultural experience from some of the most underrepresented communities in the web3 era.
The Valley of Belonging will also feature a pride parade and other events that allow folks to celebrate their uniqueness and sense of identity.
Sandbox’s Additional Social Contests
To make the Belonging Week even more exciting, The Sandbox is organizing several social contests. These contests will be available on the Events and Contests Pages on the Sandbox site. The aim is to have several contests starting June 24th all the way to July 3rd.
Details about each contest will come out every day and users can participate and win incredible prizes. Also, community members will get to join a big raffle which will likely be the climax of Belonging Week.
Winners of the raffle will win 500, 000 $SAND in prize money. The Sandbox also notes that an additional 1000 people will be selected in the same raffle where each will walk away with $500 SAND. Please also keep your eyes open for Belonging Week memorabilia and other NFTs as well.
This 7-day event is part of growing efforts by the Sandbox to make its metaverse more accommodating to diversity. It will likely be an annual feature of the Sandbox community.
